Would you be able to take a screenshot of the map and edit that in as the link URL? Nice thumbnails help a post be seen, and it might let people see the map when the site is getting a hug of death 😄

Then just have the website link at the top of the post

edit: It loaded for me, and I see why a screenshot wouldn’t make sense. There’s so much cool detail, thanks for sharing!

  • But I didn’t know Mbin could federate with Lemmy. But I’m sure Lemmy/Mbin probably won’t federate with Pixelfed, or Peertube.

I think all of these are "don’t federate well currently ", but it’s a goal to improve federation over time

For example, Lemmy is federating with Mastodon better than when I first joined. It’s also possible to subscribe to peertube channels from Lemmy, but it’s a bit buggy.

  • Yup, cats can’t taste sweetness for that reason, while birds don’t have receptors for spice and can eat chillies easily.

That’s just the taste buds themselves, additionally:

    • A large part of our taste response is tied to smell. This is why food tastes different when sick. It’s also hard to try yourself because you can “smell” through the back of your throat too
    • the air around us will affect taste perception, which is why some foods taste better or worse on a plane
    • genetic factors exist, such as how some people taste cilantro/parsley as soapy

  • Which makes me think they won’t do that, at least until they realize their current plan won’t work out in the long run. So far they’ve been going in the opposite direction by locking down everything:

    • killing off third party apps
    • making it difficult to access on old Reddit or mobile web
    • only letting search engines index the site if they pay
    • talk of paywalling subreddits
