Peerless vibes.
I mean it’s super dark, but it’s so slick
My partner rewatches that as like a comfort movie. I always found it so dark and hopeless and disconcerting. It really felt like a vision of hell when I first saw it.
Although I’ve caught parts of it while she’s watching so often that I’ve become a bit desensitized, so I can appreciate it for it’s merits more. It is a great movie.
I did and it worked. That or I install an app timer/blocker thing (they all behave p much the same).
Gradually I start thinking I don’t need to restrain myself anymore and my usage creeps back up until I smack it back down.
Circle of life innit
Just become someone that doesn’t really make a big todo about their birthday. It’s so liberating.
I turned 40 not long ago and I couldn’t tell you what I did. Probably bought myself a box of doughnuts.
It’s also okay to be weird about your birthday. Lots of people are. Just do whatever feels right.
I know I shouldn’t have even started, but I did, quitting smoking and drinking. It was really, really hard.
Howling Dogs: https://xrafstar.monster/games/twine/howlingdogs/
It’s a little Twine game that you can enjoy just in your browser (see link above), but it’s great.
Just saw you got it already - enjoy Disco Elysium!
Some of the best, most enjoyable, games writing I have ever seen. Every character is a treat.
Like toothpaste?
The dentist’s house handed out toothbrushes. Which actually was really thoughtful and appreciated by the poorer parents
I remember rediscovering Hallowe’en as an adult. Totally different vibe except definitely still hedonistic af
Man those parents don’t know shit - you were a Hallowe’en hero
Man those are some of my favs. I’ve always loved them.
Yeah it’s actually an incredible time to be an enjoyer of games if you ignore that AAA+ space. If you look at the “III” space (or mid sized dev studios putting out mid level games) it’s kind of where many of the “big” game dev shops were at in the 90-00s.
So if you miss the popular games of this era, then you should be looking at studios that operate at a similar size/ethos. Indies, in other words.
That’s where those games are now. The good games.
I would have said video games, because I used to play maybe once a month or two, but during times of high stress being able to pick up a controller and play an old favourite has been a real balm.
what gives you the right to speak to me like this
In English this is often seen as a curse, like don’t say that, now it will get worse! Like you’re daring the gods.
Oh neat. So know pressure. I like it
