I once tried to explain instant messaging to an older woman but she didn’t get the difference to email because she’d regularly use them to instantly chat with her son. That was two or three decades ago. While in theory emails can take days to be delivered the reality is that for a human it is “instant”.
If I recall correctly it’s a bug in the newest Lemmy version. So this should happen only on servers that have upgraded.

Wanted to post the exact same thing. Experienced that a few months ago. Absolutely horrible. And i think the doctor’s instructions made it worse. They told me to slump together and not round out my back. But after several failed attempts I rounded out my back and it finally went in. But that’s only the beginning. The sucking sensation was so awful. It felt like they were trying to drain my brain.

Do you mean that time seems to speed up? I believe that is just a consequence of growing up. The older you get the more time you have lived to compare to the last week, month or years.

I care a little bit. I’ve got my good 5.1 sound system for the TV but I don’t see the necessity to invest into an Atmos system. The TV can display 4k with HDR but I’m satisfied with HD SDR stuff. When playing games 60 fps is nice but I won’t die if my Steam Deck can only manage 30 fps.
So, most stuff is usually good enough for me. And at the moment I can’t leave my bed anyways so I can live with laptop speakers.
There were knife and souvenir shops in Spain that sold katanas. Don’t think they were sharp but I always wanted to have one when we went there on vacation. But they were too expensive. But we did get some shuriken, nunchakus (I got some padded ones because I was the younger child) and a butterfly knife.
I blame Douglas Adams’ extended tax evasion scheme. I think they were already struggling to finish the first one.
I did Judo as a kid. But it was more for health and fun. Never really needed to defend myself.

Not exactly the same, but if you haven’t watched it already, look for Epic Rap Battles of History. They use mostly historical figures but there are some with fictional figures like Batman vs Sherlock Holmes as well.
When my father got a new computer I got to have the C64 in my room, along with an old TV as a monitor, which I was only allowed to use for the computer. My brother tried to warn my parents that I would just get an antenna cable and use it to watch TV but they didn’t believe him.
Of course I did get the cable and through the way our in-house cabling worked I could also watch what my brother watched on his VCR. I really miss his BMX videos, they were great. That way I was also able to watch the Street Fighter 2 anime when I was much too young.

When Covid hit my wife was super afraid of Long Covid but I thought that shit wouldn’t get it. Now I’ve been living in my bed for two years because I’m too weak for much else. Yeah, changed my mind about that one.
