The second-oldest building here is probably the remains of the castle of the poem “The castled crag of Drachenfels” by Lord Byron.

“Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel” (Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella). It runs at least a dozen times around each Christmas since I was a kid, and is part of the usual Christmas habits.

LG recently had a nice set of stripped-down-to-monitor TVs, i.e. TVs without that “smart” crap. Available in TV sizes, but none of the junk that spouts ads or intrudes into your privacy.

The local discounter had a cheap set of Velcro cable ties in assorted colors. I bought a bunch, and now all USB C cables have yellow ties, and USB B Mini have red ones.

I didn’t grow up at the coast, but I learned about the tides the hard way (we found a nice place at the beach at low tide, and had to seriously hurry to get everything to safety). That taught me about tides.

Last year we were visiting a coastal town in the UK, and I had checked the tide table beforehand so I could always tell my wife and our friend about the current state. Sadly, we never had the time to see the beach or the port there - whenever we had time, it was already dark.

Politicians are doing nothing for any normal people. They cater for those who contribute to their campaigns in a way that makes them remeberable - usually not normal people.

Of course store-bought ice cream is soft. Have you noticed that they sell ice cream by volume and not by weight? They just add some more stabilizers, and basically “blow up” the mass with Nitrogen. Every liter of Nitrogen is a liter of ice cream more sold. Basically profit from the air. It is hard to get a cheaper ingredient except maybe water. And that is a bit harder to conceal.

If this was easier, others could do it, too.

Two guys swam to school. The school was located on an island in the river Rhine, one of the busiest waterways in Europe.

I would have loved a sequel, too. That movie would probably have done better if it had not have to compete to The Return of the King that year.

What is not flooded with political spam these times? And I am afraid we have not seen nothing yet.

I joined a forum about 30 years ago, and I am still a regular. I can’t say the exact date I joined, nor can the forum admins, as things like that were not tracked back then. Even them having my email was a way later add-on.
