Ive been to a few punk shows but there were no nazis. Majority of the dudes were pretty skinny.

The meme of punks fighting nazis is the same as every group that age. You walk into a bar wearing the wrong sports jersey and you’re getting punched. Ive been punched over not giving someone a lighter. Young males will fight for any reason. Once people stop being 21 and drunk it becomes less action and more talk.

Its something people say to feel powerful and punk. Most of the people saying it couldn’t snap a twig let alone throw a punch.

At the moment federation between platforms is not useful. The only advantage is federation between Instances. I’ve used my sister at a test for what the average woman would think about it.

Aspects she thinks is cool are that it’s owned by people and designed for people, that its left leaning and inclusive.

Aspects she doesn’t care about are privacy, lack of ads, federation between instances, federation between platforms.

Aspects she doesn’t like are her friends aren’t there, none of the accounts she like are there, no recommendation algorithm. She also hates the name fediverse.

I think that we need to stop being boomers clutching our chronological feed and word of mouth discovery and embrace algorithms. That’s not to say we can have chronological feeds it’s just that we should include and option and serve some form of content recommendations.

I also think threads will be a major player in drawing people in. Its easier to convince people who use Instagram to switch from Twitter to threads than Twitter to Mastodon. Once they’re on threads they can start being a part of the fediverse and then eventually they might decide to try out one of the instances.

Ive read so many amazing detailed tech posts. It feels like a treat to read some of the threads started here. I think my favorite post was a blog going into detail on what swap was. I and many others had been completely wrong about swap and it was a joy to read how it worked and why it was a default on so many linux systems.

Yeah we’ve have 1 Influx and the result was we retained a pretty decent userbase. I think the next influx will be even better for lemmy.

I like that it’s slower moving and the moderation is open. I like that the different instances have different culture.

I like that the content and discussion generated is open and will remain open forever. I don’t have to worry about the content being locked away behind a paywall or bad company direction.

I love that the platform is open to alternative technology and values open source and copy left philosophies.

I think a synchronized dance where they swim in cool patterns and interesting movements would be a good form of expression. They can flex their z axis movements.

Yes. My dreams are incredibly vivid and I can get confused between them and memories. Most of my dreams are very mundane but sometimes my brain conjures up the perfect scenario to illict and extreme emotional response. I feel like my brains testing to make sure everything still works cause my life is very stable and boring.

The worst one recently was a dream about a faceless women who I seemed to care deeply about getting in a carcrash and dying in front of me. It felt like I had lost everything and all meaning in life was gone. I had to sit with the feeling for what felt like a lifetime. I don’t know why dreams do this and would be interested if anyone knew why this happens.

I reckon its good to have these posts in asklemmy. Its the first place people go when they think of asking a wide open question to the general comment audience. I don’t think ask lemmy is being over run with posts so splitting would just make both communities less active.
