Blood, for instance gets sold by the red cross to hospitals for around $215 per unit. Hospitals in turn will charge anywhere from $580 to $3,000 for it.
Also, most blood is used for elective surgeries that are not life critical. Any time you hear about their being a blood shortage that could effect what hospitals can give, what they actually mean is that there’s plenty for emergency and necessary use, but they may have to postpone elective and cosmetic surgeries.
Obviously, the issue would be solved easily by paying people enough to be worth it to donate. People would be lining up if they got something like $100 to donate a pint. Something that only takes about 30 minutes to do.

Further also, you aren’t quite understanding the issue with the phones. Most phones manufacturers leave some “wiggle room” for their power demand and don’t need a full 3.6v for stability (lithium batts are 3.7v nominal). Apple screwed up their power draw and screwed up their battery manufacturing.

Lol. That is 100% not true, Fan Boy. My four year old samsung still pulls the same test numbers and frequencies as when it was new. Apple was using flawed batteries with a processor that couldn’t cope and just tried to cover it up.
If you’re much of a tech person, you must have been living under a rock if you think all apple products are good. Several of their laptops and desktops have been large misses, some have had critical flaws that burn them out after a few years, one of their iPhones had a battery/processor combo flaw that had the batteries not deliver enough voltage after like a year and instead of doing a recall, they put out an update that undercooked the apu so the phone ran shittier but wouldn’t rando restart anymore. Then there was the iPhone that lost reception if “you were holding it wrong”.
Also, there’s a reason they were about to go bankrupt in the mid 90’s. They got saved by Bill Gates and got lucky with the Ipod, that saved their company.

The Lucas looks more Sci fi, but usage wise, I prefer one called AutoPulse. It looks less “brutal” when being used in front of patients family/bystanders, isn’t as loud, and the newer ones have a built in tarp with straps to pick up the patient and carry them so the stretcher. Also has a much lower profile.

I’ve been an EMT for over 15 years. It’s now common place that ambulances carry battery powered devices that do cpr compressions for you. The things are incredible, really. Freeing up a person from needing to do it, no longer worrying about fatigue, and not having an extra person to do compressions in the way of moving around the patient is just fantastic.
I think the concept was old and fully grasped. Reducing the latency enough to make it work in headphones and earbuds was the magic part.
That guy on Undecided is a bit of a dunce. He never actually checked or tested in any way that the yoshino psu uses real solid state batteries. He just bought it from Amazon and it’s advertised on Amazon as having them.
But they likely aren’t solid state batteries in that psu he bought. He even admitted as much in a podcast just last week.
Other people have done teardowns on those yoshino batteries and have apparently found that they are not solid state. They still contain a liquid.

Yeah…he doesn’t know a lot about batteries, really. He’s also doubled back after having some battery teardown reports shown to him and now says it doesn’t seem likely yoshino is using a real solid state battery.
So no. It isn’t likely “yoshino” gets to be the first to market with a real solid state battery in their product.
You went off to a different country and things are much different.
In the US, generally, parents by retirement age have paid for their homes by then, have retired with benefits from their employer that will give them some money every month, have social security that also pays them every month (both of these are taken out of each paycheck throughout their career lives) and don’t have many bills.
So by the time they’re old, if they were responsible and held ok jobs, they should need money less than you need it. Our US system is basically set up to make you work hard for 40 ish years and then you’re taken care of when you’re old, for the most part. If your parents need money and you have money to give, there’s nothing wrong or against it. It’s still a common thing. But ideally, doing that shouldn’t be needed.
